Intro Lower Stondon Bedfordshire

Hi we are the county macro moth recorders for vc30, Bedfordshire. We have a small (c6m x 7m) back garden plus a bit either side of the communal path out the front. There's also a strip 1/2m wide and wall next to our garage in a communal block 6 houses away where we grow a Hop and usually have Comma & Buttoned Snout larvae. Hopefully though disconnected it still counts as we garden it!
The back garden is currently being replanted but is dominated by a 2m square pond (where an Early Thorn was found swimming yesterday). Our location is on the edge of the village with farmland nearby but lacking mature trees so we do tend to struggle with some species only catching them occasionally when others get them regularly.
We have run a moth trap here since late July 2003 and in that time the garden list is 294 macros + 229 micros = 523.
Looking forward to competing in this but not expecting to get anywhere else other than mid-table mediocrity (or worse!). Andy tweets as @vc30moths.
Count so far for 2013 is 12 macro + 4 micro + 1 butterfly =17.
Cheers
Andy & Melissa Banthorpe
