I'm in my first year of Mothing so nothing to compare against, however i have purchased a Skinner for the garden and we shall see how it goes. Up to 12 for the year so far but as i understand it this Knot Grass is early. In the trap overnight from Friday 29th March

Hi - further to comments, i've added a couple more shots, i'm pretty sure its a Knot Grass (or i've just made a monkey out myself in my first post but i'm here to learn) - all comments welcome - thanks Lee.
Hi Lee,
ReplyDeleteI think your Knotgrass is actually an Early Grey.
Best wishes
Tristan
I'm sure it's a Knot Grass.

Sorry Tris, It is a Knot Grass. The double white crescents and the tiny oval mark are distinctive. Early Grey has a 'flower' or 'rose' shape patch. See UK Moths there is one just like Lees...
ReplyDeleteYep, has to be doesn't it! Apologies for the confusion! Always learning :-)
ReplyDeleteWe all are, Tris, there are so many moths, and forms to remember and learn each year. Its great that when mothing we are allowed to make mistakes, its just a pity birding wasnt as tolerant ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks guys for all your comments, i'm sure i will be making mistakes :)
